This memorandum explains the theory and operation of this Custom "Available-to-Promise" Module.

An amalgamation file "Z_AVL_DATA" compiles data from the Custom Indices provided, to index Sales Orders, Purchase Orders, Scheduled Purchase and Work Order Receipts, and WO-BOM and Allocations requirements.

These indices can be rebuilt, in their entirety, by using the process provided. Additionally, certain "file-time" routines, and the Buy-Card update programs, have been modified to provide real-time information.

A process is provided to pre-load this file from one or more user-entered assembly part numbers, based on a paper list, or a quotation, prior to Sales Order Entry. This will save time, as opposed to building data DURING Sales Order Entry.

The user has the option to request data rebuilds during the Sales Order Line Item Entry, at the Part Number entry prompt, with display available at that time, or on each Line Item Schedule. Rebuilding DURING Sales Order Entry may slow down the Entry Process.
